Dr. Richard Gartner trained as a psychologist, psychoanalyst, and couples and family therapist. He practices in New York City, working with individual adults, groups, and couples. He is licensed as a psychologist in New York State.

A significant portion of Dr. Gartner’s practice focuses on working with sexually abused men both individually and in group treatment. However, his practice is not limited to this area. He treats sexually abused women, families and loved ones of people with sexual abuse histories, and adults whose problems do not include a history of sexual victimization.

Dr. Gartner also supervises other mental health professionals in their psychotherapeutic work, consults to organizations that work with sexual abuse, and at times serves as an expert witness in cases involving sexual victimization.
